I have always been mystified as to why those of us who live in English-speaking nations of the former British Empire do not have an agreement for easy migration for our skilled workers. The United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand all share a common heritage, common language, and common legal system. We are more alike than we are different, yet we make it next to impossible for our citizens to migrate to one another. It baffles me that EU nationals, no matter where their origin, can freely move into the United Kingdom and settle, whereas I, an American Attorney, face an almost impossible barrier to doing the same.
