For the first time, I have written President Obama at the White House.
Here is what I wrote:
Dear President Obama,
Thank you for your diligent work of behalf of the American people over the last six years.
In the next two, you will have challenges keeping Congress from impeding your, and our, agenda to make the USA a better place. I think you are a truly great president, and although I do think you could have done more, sooner, I'll not quibble. I write this to offer my support of $50 to buy ink for your veto pen that I hope you use aggressively over the next two years. Where can I send my $50? I would be proud knowing the very ink flowing from your pen was paid for by me and other supporters in our joint effort to stop the spread of injustice, intolerance, ignorance, and ineptitude.
I voted for you twice and would again. I am a firefighter in Austin, Texas and wish you the best in keeping down the flames of hate.
Thank you for your wisdom and service.
