Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is apparently negotiating with Senate Republicans. The outlines of the deal are as follows: Reid will seek confirmation of only a handful of the federal judgeship and Administration nominees rather than ALL of them and Senate Republicans will permit their confirmations, in order for both sides to be able to take off as many holiday vacation days as the current Senate schedule contemplates.
Got that?
A few vacation days between now and when the new, more Republican Senate convenes on January 3 is more important to Harry Reid and our Senate Democrats than holding confirmation votes on all of the pending nominees.
The rest of us have to do our jobs and complete projects and tasks, even if that means working more days between now and the end of the year. Harry Reid and Senate Democrats follow a different drummer apparently.
Senate Democrats should do their jobs - and work for as many days - including overnights and weekends and even the holidays themselves - to confirm all of the pending nominees.
