Oddly enough, given what I presume is a massive weekend enrollment rush ahead of tomorrow's deadline for most states, actual ACA news has been pretty sparse yesterday and today (partly because the exchanges tend not to issue press releases over the weekend anyway; partly because I hope that the exchange personnel are far too busy actually processing enrollments to bother issuing press releases).
In fact, aside from the still-unresolved mystery of what the hell happened to Idaho's original "December 23rd" enrollment deadline (and the even more eyebrow-raising "January 10th / January 15th" payment deadline...for January coverage), I actually only have one fresh link tonight...and it's actually from 2 weeks ago, and isn't even directly related to #OE2 enrollments.
It is, however, funny as hell:
—ROFLMAO!! Marco Rubio's Failed "Anti-Obamacare" Exchange wants to start selling...Obamacare
Meanwhile, by my reckoning, total QHP plan selections should be hitting roughly 3.85 million as of tonight...which means that, assuming it's close to that, 2015 QHPs have not broken fully 50% of the 8.02 million who enrolled through all of the 2014 open enrollment period (and well above 50% of the 7.1 million or so who paid their first premium last year).
Otherwise, tomorrow should be a Big Day. I expect total manual enrollments to reach as many as 4.5 million by tomorrow night (yes, that's right, conceivably up to an astonishing 650,000 in one day, assuming the system can handle it), with another 2.9 million (give or take) autorenewals kicking in as of midnight. Of course, I have no idea how those will be reported; will they be added as a one-time lump sum all at once on the 16th, or will they be phased in by state, or what?
Anyway, lots of fingers will be crossed tomorrow night that the state & federal systems can handle both the crush and the renewal process...
