Earlier today, CNN had a feature in which Chris Cuomo, brother of Andrew and son of Mario, sat down with a group of third- and fourth-graders to find out what they know about ISIS. CNN called this their "Kiddie Cabinet." You can watch it here. It is an experience to behold, and I would rather not ruin it by excerpting from the transcript.
Cuomo was more aggressive toward the elementary school kids than he probably is to CIA chiefs and military propagandists.
The idea of aggressively interviewing a group of children about a foreign policy matter sounds like an amusing sketch on the Daily Show, something that one of the Daily Show correspondents--like Samantha Bee or Jason Jones--would do. And it would be funny because the over-the-top nature would be clear. But Chris Cuomo is trying to be serious.
The video is an embodiment of CNN's trademark mix of fear-mongering and vacuity. It reflects just how bad cable news has become.
And it shows that Chris Cuomo really is putting up a good fight against his brother in the competition for "Worst Cuomo."
