Amazing what a difference a working website can make, isn't it? (click image for full size)
UPDATE: To address any confusion (see comments below):
I've deliberately simplified this version in order to reduce confusion, since the main point of it is to simply show the contrast between last year and this year.
Instead, some seem to feel that this has increased the confusion, so here's some explanation:
--On the 2014 graph, the red line represents total plan selections (the "8 million" from last April). The blue line represents how many of those actually paid their first premium (around 88%, or 7.1 million).
--The 6.7 million "still enrolled in October" figure was removed because that's not what's relevant on this version; go here for the original:
http://acasignups.net/...
Here's the master for 2015: The sudden jump from 4.7M to 7.6M yesterday is due to around 2.9 million automatic renewals going through for current enrollees who took no action before 12/15 (ie, they neither renewed, switched plans or cancelled their policies manually). Here's the original for that:

As for the "compressed timeframe", I did that deliberately as well, because it would be an unfair comparison to pit 1/3 of the 2015 period (3 months long) vs. 1/6th of the 2014 period (less than that, actually, since the 15-day grace period was also tacked on last year).
The point here is that the exchanges only have (less than) half the time to enroll MORE people, so I'm matching them up to see where they are at the same point in the process (1/3 of the way through).
