Alas:
I note apparent voter turnout in top of ticket races, 2014 and 2010. Top of ticket is usually governor.
Republican: 40,934,236, down 5.9% from the party’s 2010 total of 43,507,666.
Democratic: 36,887,850, down 10.1% from the party’s 2010 total of 41,043,721
Green: 416,303, down 18.1% from the party’s 2010 total of 508,041. In addition, the Top Two ballot scheme means that the Green Party is effectively excluded from the California general election; in 2010, when there was no top two, for California Governor the Greens had 129,231 votes suppressed in the 2014 total.
Libertarian: 1,471,101, up 44.9% from the party’s 2010 total of 1,015,009. In addition, the Top Two ballot scheme means that the Libertarian Party is effectively excluded from the California general election; in 2010 when there was no top two, for California Governor the Libertarians had 150,895 votes suppressed in the 2014 total.
Readers will correctly infer that it was the Libertarian party that is circulating these numbers. I mean, for the DNC this is not exactly a bragging point.
