Welcome again to Saturday Morning Home Repair blogging, where we talk about fixing houses, the things in them that are supposed to work for us, and fixing them up. An ad hoc cadre of building professionals and gifted amateurs attempt to answer questions that arise from readers, and offer encouragement and advice for those inclined to do things for themselves, if they can. We all do a lot of things, collectively, and can probably help out with insights from our vast experience.
Or sometimes, we just gab.
So the garage doors were hung in May around the 20th.
As usual I didn't take a picture of the hanger at the end of the track, the typical job uses angle with holes so it's easy to get level. It also has a support that runs off at an angle to keep the track in place.
So how do you have this hang thru a drop ceiling tile ?
I'll let you think about that for a minute.
these doors have openers also.
So I put some stuff in the wall to hold them.
OK ! I found a picture of the temp brackets !
So I had 6 months to think about how I was going to do this !
The installers said I needed a center support also.
So here are my brackets
here they are again
worked out really well !
last Sunday I decided to test the tank less water heater. It won't work in the wash room. It barely works at the sink on the other side of the wall from where it's located. So I had to decide what to do.
Tuesday & Wednesday I installed a hot water heater, my younger brother came over & helped. It wasn't hard, but you had to get after it to complete it. I have a few more things to do to call it complete.
I put it right over the sink where the water is going to be used.
To get the electric over there was a challenge.
so I cut the old roof out of the way & built a walkway, this will be used again to get access to the overhead area of the main shop.
so now that I can get to the trusses I took 1/2 emt bent an offset on the end & started pushing it across the trusses, adding another 10' with a coupling, I used 50'.
the first pull a coupling came apart, but the second time I was able to get a 10# MC cable to the back room !
I have lights & the ac is up & running !
Monday the crew that will paint the floors for 20K will start !
I moved the lift also.
it will go outside while the floors are painted.

I didn't like the way the wire was tied ! I cut out everyone & replaced them !
See how the wire sticks out ? I didn't want someone going thru an opening & get poked by those eyesores !
their way
I drilled a hole for the wire & twisted it tightly.
I also used the same hole so they were inline & looked nice ! :=)
getting close to the end !
I'll be working at drakestone when this hits the recent list.
My Brother is coming over to help hang cabinets & get the time warner box on the outside of the building.
Hope your Saturday is what you want it to be.
