Because of this comment in a diary titled "The problem is we can't discriminate"
"Please diary this as it really deserves (4+ / 0-)
to be its own headline story. It is beautiful and inspiring and thank you for sharing this with us; it's the loveliest of New Year gifts. (◕‿◕)

I have copied and pasted my original comment below. Please read the original diary about the outrageous behavior of some county clerks in Florida.
i have stated on many diaries (54+ / 0-)
that i am a volunteer deputy commissioner of civil marriages at the hall of records in my little los angeles suburb. every other friday morning, i marry all people who stand in front of me, have the correct paperwork and someone to marry. it is a joy beyond measure to do this work. i do a lot of volunteer work but this one gives me the most pleasure. the homosexual couples have been, to a person, overjoyed to be able to marry after so long. one couple of ladies had been together 35 years. one couple of men had come from nevada after 7years together, unable to marry. they make up a small fraction of the 16 couples i marry in 4 hours but i am proud to have them stand in my chapel and tell each other, their families, and me that they will love, honor and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. these homophobic clerks in florida are mired in hate, their lives are small and soulless, their connections to the human race are reedy and tenuous. the joy that floods mine shines like a beacon in the dark because i am able to help create families from single folks who have a promise to each other in their hearts.
