As we are four days into the new year, have you broken all your resolutions yet?
As this is looking to be the most interesting Congress in years, and I mean that in the Chinese curse way, let's party like there is no tomorrow! Since we are all Democrats and nerds here, that would mean group puzzles, not drugs and underaged sex.
Well, the first Sunday of the month is always the potluck. New puzzles and new puzzlers are always welcome. Just post your puzzle in the comments and I'll copy it up into the body.
Over the orange puzzle piece for the first banquet of the new year!

I'm running late on everything today (as usual) so didn't have time to construct any original puzzles for the potluck myself. But here are a couple of puzzles from the Page-A-Day puzzle calendars. First, a fun little math puzzle:
Each of the letters A, B, C, D, E, and F stands for a different number from 1 through 9.
A + B + D = 24
D + E + F = 10
B + F = C x E
What number does each letter stand for?
And second, a fun little word puzzle:
If you alternate the letters of SAND and TIE, you get STAINED. Similarly, on each line below, use the clues to determine the four- and three-letter words, then alternate their letters to get the clued seven-letter word.
1. Crossword part + ancient = plot (with)
2. Tip from Heloise + exist = snood
3. Bluenose + funeral vase = contented cat activity
4. Cafeteria slider + sizzling = husky-sounding
