I am disgusted with the actions of the NYPD and all police in this country. The protests have been, and are, great ways to let people feel heard. However, it is now time to start funneling those feelings into other ways to force change.
I have many ideas on how we can fight back, but one idea stands out against the rest, because, our opponents have used it against us to their benefit. I am talking about using education reform and using it against the police.
The first thing we will have to do is come up with a name that resonates with everyone. Not just the progressives, but also the middle and politically uninvolved. With this name we define the movement, creating a battle cry for the already converted, and a way to disarm our enemies. With these goals in mind I think its easy to choose a name:
All Lives Matter.
By using our opponents language against them we don't have to fight an uphill battle against their propaganda, we can use it to our benefit. They have already spread the name far and wide. It is now our turn to define it as something else.
We will define it with their own language and throw their own crappy questions back in their face, such as:
Why are the police wasting your tax payer money not doing their jobs?
Do you know your money is wasted by bad cops? Your tax payer money is given to pay people wrongfully abused by the police.
Your tax dollars pay these police, why are they not doing their jobs?
The police haven't been performing their job yet crime is still down X%, why waste your tax payer money on these lazy government workers?
While we lay the ground work using their language against them, we can have a movement to push forward the:
The Keep America Safe Act
It will be used to reform our police. And by keeping it simple we will have an easier time pushing it forward. Also we can easily use the name of the act against our enemies by asking them why they do not want to keep America safe? or Do you want to keep America safe?
Below are some ideas (not final)
• All police officers must live in the neighborhood that they patrol.
• All police officers must pass an IQ test and a personality test.
• All police officers must wear cameras at all time. Cameras must be on at all times. Any officer who has shot at or killed someone when the camera was not on will be fired immediately, lose all pay, and benefits and be tried in court.
• All police officers who have committed a criminal act against another person will be held personally responsible for any law suit directed at the city. No tax payer money can be used to pay off a law suit.
I leave you all with this final question. Shouldn't we, tax paying Americans have a choice in who polices us?
