Team PM is now back on a regular 2 day a week raiding schedule, and last Thursday, we made some progress on normal Highmaul, taking down Twin Ogron and Tectus without a lot of pain, 2 wipes and a kill on each boss. It was great fun, and the wipes were the kind you expect when you're learning fights as a group. Tuesday, we dispatched Kargath and the Butcher, again on normal, in about 20 minutes, leaving plenty of time to work on Brackenspore, the guy with the creeping moss that heals him and kills you and the healing/buffing mushrooms combined with poisonous evil mushrooms.
Because this fight requires 2 players to be dedicated to using flamethrowers to control the moss, it is acknowledged to be tougher for smaller groups, although it is certainly quite feasible if you have enough dps and if the healers keep the good blue mushrooms alive long enough to help heal the group through some other bad stuff. We were trying with 15 people, and we fell just a little bit short - as in less than 0.1%, 200K health left short, before the moss got to Brackenspore and started healing him up. Even though we didn't get him, it was a great learning night - Mama had never seen the fight at all, but upon being thrust into flamethrower duty (along with Hrira who was very helpful in explaining the mechanics), rose to the occasion and performed excellently! We were very fortunate to have Crakzert join us as 4th heals, and I think we will get this guy very soon, although not sure we can do it tonight since Crakzert is out of town. Nonetheless, we'll give it a try, or perhaps go back to Twins and Tectus for the loots.
Next week we hope to tackle heroic Kargath again, now that people have really stepped up their dps and healing (well, except for this nerfed disc priest who will keep trying nevertheless - seems like bubble spam is still the way to go despite our 15% nerf), and get Brackenspore if we don't take him down tonight. Then on to the last two fights [shudder] - it would be nice to have the place cleared on normal before the next raid tier drops on Feb. 3rd, but if not, we'll keep plugging away at it.
