Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.
In what reads like satiric comedy, white conservatives just filed a suit against the majority white Dallas County Voting Board (three whites, one African American, one Latino) to protect the rights of white citizens in Dallas.
In the suit, they literally compare the plight of white Dallas citizens to those of African Americans during Jim Crow.
A conservative group that lists a Texas legislator on its governing board has filed a lawsuit claiming Dallas County is violating the Voting Rights Act by discriminating against white people.
“Like something out of the bad old days, a southern electoral body [is] playing naked racial politics, intentionally using its power to minimize a dissenting race’s political sway,” the suit said.
The suit, filed in federal court Thursday by the Dallas-based Equal Voting Rights Institute, argues that whites, a racial minority in the county, have been unable to elect their chosen Republican candidates to the Commissioners Court. It asks that the county’s district map be thrown out and a new one drawn before the 2016 elections.
In essence, whites, who are no longer the majority in Dallas County, miss the good 'ol days.
