He gave a State of the Union response once. It didn't go well.
Oh,
Gov. Bobby Jindal. If we can't get you to believe volcanoes exist, how shall we ever convince you that Muslim "no-go zones"
do not?
Gov. Bobby Jindal continued to claim Muslim "no-go zones" exist in Europe Monday, even as British political leaders and American media outlets issued statements repudiating such statements.
Mind you,
Fox News had to issue a correction on this very subject after their repeated claims on the subject were both
disproved and
met with worldwide derision. The original Fox News source of the claim had to issue his own apology for claiming one of the "no-go zones" was the United Kingdom city of
Birmingham. Doesn't matter. Someone, somewhere said it and so now all true conservatives
believe it deep within their hearts.
“There are neighborhoods where women don’t feel comfortable going in without veils that is wrong, we all know there are neighborhoods where police are less likely to go into,” Jindal said, referring to so-called “no-go” zones or areas that are too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter. The claim has echoed throughout conservative media in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Paris.
[CNN correspondent Max Foster] challenged the assertion repeatedly, explaining that, “you need to have sort of proper facts to back that up.” “I’ve lived here a long time,” he said. “I don’t know of any no-go zones for non-Muslims.”
But Jindal insisted that such areas do exist and instead of offering any additional details or locations he blamed the radical left for pretending “this problem is not here.”
YOU AND YOUR STUPID FACT HAVING. That's really the perfect response when someone who actually lives in the area you're talking about challenges your insane Fox News-provided talking point.
Listen here, fellow, you may have lived here a very long time but I have formulated my opinion based on something I heard on the teevee set last week. I think we know who the real expert is here. (Shades here of Sen. Joni Ernst's response to a Charlie Pierce observation that despite all Ernst's talk of Obama inaction in the face of an Ebola crisis, there was exactly one Ebola case in the United States at that time to be actioned about:
"OK, you're the press, you're giving me your opinion.")
I truly despair of ever bringing the conservative movement back to reality. It's not just that everyone from their base to their topmost politicians believe easily disproven things, it is the belligerence with which they believe them. All those that cannot see the imaginary no-go zones are the real problem, those stupid leftists and television shows and people who actually live in the neighborhoods, because they dare challenge what is now, as of just last week, an incontrovertible fact: that Muslims are taking over Europe and establishing Sharia law on a "zone"-by-"zone" basis. It is simply assumed, based on the natural deviousness of the Muslim mind, and so the conspiracy theory trundles forward like past theories on what the Gypsies or the Jews were plotting behind the scenes.
In other news, the city of Paris says it plans to sue Fox News for damaging the city's image with repeated claims of these dangerous "zones." This is a commendable move, because it will be hilarious.
