Sure, there are many people out there who play the system. Try to get something for nothing in life. People who want pity, not because they deserve it, but because they are lazy. However, that is not everyone who asks for help.
Those who take advantage of the system make it so much harder for those who are genuine in their need. Take for example the person born with a disabling disease like cerebral palsy. He didn't ask for this illness, but he is in need of help nonetheless. He is denied while the ex con who claims to have PTSD from his time in prison gets all the help he needs. Is that fair? Of the two, who is lazy? Who deserves the help? Who is the one getting the help? The guy who needs it, or the guy who wants it?
I'll tell you who gets the help. The dishonest person gets the help, while the truthful person gets a door in the face. They lie their way into a lifestyle of the comfortably lazy. While the honest guy who is disabled through no fault of his own is told to go get a job. The person who broke the law and claims to suffer PTSD as a result of his imprisonment, gets a check each month.
Millions of hard working people are out of work. This is not their fault. Millions of people who were once members of a thriving middle class are now without anything, including their savings, their homes, or anything else of value. They certainly can't afford to stimulate the economy by purchasing things.
These people were once tax payers. You can't pay taxes if you have no income.
The problem is that now the middle class have shifted downward to being poor. This country has only two classes: the rich and the poor. There is no middle class any longer and I for one am sick and tired of hearing how the haves are more deserving than the have-nots; that the have-nots are just lazy. A great many of today's have-nots had plenty until the financial meltdown we've just experienced. These people lost everything they worked hard for. All because their rich counterparts got greedy. While the uber rich have gained more than they had, and do you know what? They didn't even have to work for all their money. They were given to. Their parents or grand parents may have worked for it, but they didn't All they had to do was hire someone to grow it for them.
Did the Walton children work for their boatloads of cash? Nope, their daddy did. Will they share with those who continue to work to make them more money? Nope, they are selfish and callous. They've brainwashed ordinary people into thinking that poor people are stupid, lazy and undeserving of anything. If you're not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you don't deserve to eat. That is the mentality that is driving me crazy. Rob a bank. They do it to us all the time. Why would a citizen with a voice have to worry about prison. After all, if they can steal from us, why can't we steal from them?
The one who is sick did not ask for his illness and had no control over it; however, the PTSD sufferer chose to break the law, got caught and punished. Who is scamming here?
No one wants to be poor. No one asks for it. I don't know a kid alive who woke up one day and said I want to be homeless and hungry when I grow up.
I do know kids who wanted very much to grow up and go to college, who hadn't the money to do it. Education should not be For Profit either.
