Huffington Post is reporting (with links in the article to various news outlets) that Gustine Independent School District in Gustine, Texas forced twenty-eight elementary students to drop their pants for "inspection" after incidents of someone defecating on the gymnasium floor of the elementary school.
The school administrator hopes to get the answers to the issue before an upcoming school board meeting.
In the comments section of the article, many people are arguing that those involved should be sued or arrested for sexual assault, though if it were my child I would go for the bigger violation of the Constitution (unlawful search and seizure resulting in sexual assault).
Typical of HuffPo reporting, the writer went for the low-brow humour in the article.
There are also several quotes from parents in the article as well. Commentators note that the school district "contact us" section of the school district's Website is not working (I checked it myself; it appears to be disabled), but the telephone number is listed there too. If you are inclined to call the school district and vent your spleen about the egregious violation of civil rights of students, the number is (325) 667-7303.
Of note, several people argue that the teachers in question should be fired. I suspect the teachers didn't think this up on their own — my bet would be on the administration, and the teachers were their "inspectors." Several of Huff Po's more conservative commentators are blaming this on teachers being "socialist liberals."
Last time I checked, neither socialists nor liberals want to use the Power of the State to violate people's civil rights; that is a right-wing play (government so small you can fit it in your son's or daughter's drawers).
If my son were in that school, I would be looking for someone's head on a pike at the school entrance, but that is just me.
