As we have been seeing the American Family Association partially "fired" Bryan Fischer and then tried to refute his hate with modified hate:
Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s director of governmental affairs, said today that criticism of her organization’s role in financing a Republican National Committee trip to Israel is unfounded because Israel “could not have a better ally” than the AFA … despite the fact that God disapproves of the country’s “secular government” and is not “fond of atheist Jews” who live there. -
Yes, Fischer was not really fired for his direct hate, but the AFA cant quite get over the hatred.
“In terms of our teachings and our biblical understanding there could not be any more strong support for Israel than you find among people who understand and believe in the Bible and believe that God’s hand is on Israel, in spite of what’s happening there, in spite of its government,” she said. She mocked the notion “that God is in favor of a secular government or that God is fond of atheist Jews who occupy the land in Israel.
Yes, it sure looks like they have changed.
AFA president Tim Wildmon has agreed with her assessment: “Most of the Jews in this country, unfortunately, are far-left.” -
Bryan Fischer may now have been reduced to "talk show host" spewer of hatred, but the directors are hardly saying anything different "God will take back his country you atheist Jews, but we are your bestest allies!".
What with Republicans helping Benjamin Netanyahu in his reelection bid they are also taking a free all expenses paid trip with a Hate group that despises all "false" religions, these are sure some mixed messages for Israelis.
There should be absolutely no misunderstandings here, The Republican Party know exactly what the American Family Association's policies are, even if they didn't really fire one of the own for the hatred they promote. The letter to the SPLC was just so much garbage as to be laughable
SPLC President Richard Cohen, in a letter to the AFA today (see below), wrote that “it’s difficult to see the AFA’s disavowal as anything other than an effort to quell the negative press attention you’re receiving in connection with your sponsorship of an all-expenses-paid trip to Israel for members of the Republican National Committee.”
The RNC have pandered to the extreme right wing evangelical groups and their inherent hatred and bigotry for decades now, they know exactly with whom they are dealing, even if once in power they usually ignore them. I suppose this trip is to give them a cuddle and show them that they still matter.
What would be really hilarious would be if Israel denies them entrance at border control. Now then I would laugh my knickers off.
