Greetings, and welcome to another bit of fluff from your fuzzy friend, Marko the Werelynx-- doing his part on these chilly wintry days to keep things just that much colder.
Actually, things are still too warm in this part of the world. Most of our winter here in the Czech Republic has been fairly snowless and most days only seem to flirt with the idea of below-zero temperatures.
I've dug through my photos for the month of January and picked out a few that I liked from some walks with friends in the country. Hop below the delicately whorled, ginger hairball for 6 photos guaranteed to steal not much more than 500 KB total bandwidth between here and little ol' Photobucket.
There's something about trying to take pictures of ice that I find endlessly challenging and entertaining. It comes in an infinite number of forms.
It coats familiar objects in glistening sheets, glimmering globules and scintillating crystal spikes.
The whole world seems to glow.
On a gray, foggy day the landscape can seem dreamlike. The line between ground and sky is lost and figures swim through your pictures.
Sometimes, during a walk in winter, I find the cold has focused my thoughts on my destination, already anticipating warmth, comfort, refreshment...
But it would be a shame not to notice some of the details along the path.
