An interesting development on the spiritual side of Washington DC and the typical, business as usual, DC Kabuki theater.....
It was announced just few hours ago that H.H. The XIV Dalai Lama has tentatively accepted to attend the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 5. John Rizzo, the communications director for Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, who is co-chairing the event, released this to the press.
A little history of our president and H.H. The XIV Dalai Lama .... The two have met three times since President Obama took office in private; the most recent visit was in February of 2014. Should the President also agree to attend the Prayer Breakfast, then this would the first time the two will have met in public.
Why have they met in private outside of the press, and public?
The White House has barred media from these meetings in an attempt to minimize publicity in apparent deference to the Chinese government.
Following the 2014 meeting, however, China's Foreign Ministry issued a statement stating that the U.S. had "gravely violated basic norms governing the international relations and seriously harmed the Sino-U.S. relations."

It was Huffington Post that broke this story, and they have reached out for comment to H.H. The XIV Dalai Lama, but no word back from him has been heard as of now.
If this does happen, let's hope that some of teachings and beliefs somehow permeate the room and give inspiration to other religions and political leaders to act and follow their spiritual beliefs, as opposed to just “wearing” them as convenient charms on a bracelet when the right situation presents itself. We could use a serious amount of what H.H. The XIV Dalai Lama professes and teaches through word and deed to be the real ingredients to peace and happiness both with ourselves, and with others: Compassion, kindness, and love.
We can all be optimistic.
Be safe, out there.
