Welcome to Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. I am fascinated by some of the photographs I inherited from my parents. The pictures are of a time when computers weren't even thought of. Digital Photography wasn't a gleam in some inventor's eye since he hadn't been born yet. It was a time right after the American Civil War. So follow me below the orange fleur de Kos for a look into the past.
Starting with Mom's family we had her mother's parents Robert Hensley and Nancy Cunningham. He was a private in the One Hundred and Fourteenth Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry. She was a full blooded Cherokee and was adopted by a white family. He became a sheriff after the war. Her mother was Una Mae Hensley Hughes.
Mom's father was Hiram Walter Hughes and his parents were James Harvey Hughes and Laura Belle McIntyre. He was a farmer.

Dad's grandparents were James William Wilson who moved around central Indiana and Illinois most of his life. He worked as a farmer, a lumberman, or a teamster most of his life. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Middleton.
Dad's mother was Gertrude Wiseman and her parent's were Theodore Wiseman and Mary Tiffany Wiseman. Theodore was a veteran of the Civil War. The Indiana Volunteer outfit he was assigned to was a part of the army General Sherman took through Georgia. Mary was born in Piqua, Ohio and was descended from a long historical Tiffany line that started in this country in the early 1600’s when Squire Humphrey Tiffany emigrated from England to America.
Gertrude was a free spirit and was a member of the Sells-Floto Circus before her marriage.
His father was James Francis Wilson and it was from him that my Dad learned to be a mechanic. James Francis Wilson played Triple A Ball with both Beaumont of the Texas League and Milwaukee of the American Association and was a great catcher.
