Sen. John Cornyn: Let's 'work together' on the Republican plan to sabotage Obama's foreign policy.
Because a Republican fiasco is never truly a fiasco until all Republicans have had the opportunity to put their arms around it and give it a big ol' bear hug, Republican Senator John Cornyn was first to pen a resolution welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the United States for his big ol' hug-the-fiasco American tour. And yes, Netanyahu won't be visiting to give his speech until next month, but this is the Senate. They can't decide what socks to wear without
a month's worth of lead time.
Senator Cornyn issued the following statement in announcing the resolution:
“During this time of such great instability and danger in the Middle East, the United States should be unequivocal about our commitment to one of our closest and most important allies. I hope all my colleagues will join me in welcoming Prime Minister Netanyahu to Washington so we can continue to work together to advance our common security interests.”
And by "work together," we mean we don't want our own sitting president to negotiate a non-bombing-related end to Iran's nuclear program so we're going to "work together" with a foreign leader to try to sabotage those talks.
The resolution was cosponsored by fifty Republican senators and zero Democratic ones, because of course it was.
