North Carolina had our 1st winter event of the season, and a night of sleet and freezing rain has just about everything in the state shut down.
Except for One Legislator:
Jeff Jackson, the Dem NC State Senator from Charlotte's District 37, seems to be the only member to have braved the icy, sleet-covered roads in North Carolina this morning and made it into the legislative building in downtown Raleigh.
He's posting and tweeting about all the things he's managing to get passed:
So far he's tackled Medicaid expansion, teacher raises, bringing back the NC film industry tax credit, getting rid of puppy mills, independent redistricting, wind & solar incentives, and so much more.
He says, "This is going to be like "Night at the Museum" except at the end we'll have a stronger middle class."
Follow his progress before the sun (and the Republicans) come out and block all the progress.

Please forgive the short diary-- I'm rusty and out of practice back over here after about a five year self-imposed hiatus from writing diaries while I went back to teaching full time. At least today's snow day gives me a chance to play for a bit. Shout out to Bill and all my old C&J buddies!
