I'm not someone who goes around seeing anti-Semitism everywhere nor am I a big supporter of Israel. I find Israel's constant claim that it faces an existential threat from Iran or Hamas a wild exaggeration.
But... it does seem like nowadays, among a certain crowd, the thing to do is Jew-killing. Most of the incidents are in Europe, but they are also occurring in South America and Australia.
Over at Vox, they cite a chart from Tel Aviv University that pretty much says it all:
Mother Jones follows-up by disaggregating the data--it turns most of the spike can be blamed on Europe. In fact, anti-Semitic incidents in America are down, correlating to the overall drop in violent crimes.
This is data for the U.S.:
The not-so-funny irony is that the Arabs learned anti-Semitism from the Europeans. Now they are bringing it back to them.
I am not suggesting we are on the brink of a repeat of Nazism, only that we can expect attacks on Jews throughout the world to continue for years to come, most likely rising much higher.
I find it terrifying.
