If you are like me, you are probably starting to lose track of all the police shootings that get covered here. And more importantly, it gets hard to keep the stories straight of all the different circumstances that mean the difference between justified police action, and an entrenched culture of impunity.
And with so many stories coming out all the time, it can start to get confusing as to which instances are clearly abuses, and which ones are clear examples of exemplary police officers bravely facing down craven criminals. It's a total conundrum.
Therefore, to make it easier to categorize these situations, and to predict the outcome of specific cases, especially based on historical precedent, I thought it would be pertinent to develop a handy chart.
As it is currently a rough construction, feel free to provide feedback and suggestions to improve on the design.
