We Democrats need to stand for something if we want to grow as a party. Also, we need to be much, and I repeat, ....... MUCH ....... better salesmen and saleswomen in selling our agenda. The very inept way which we sold the Affordable Care Act to American voters was sad. What I saw a cowardly unwillingness on the part of our elected Democrats to go on the television talk shows to defend it and promote it. There was no shortage of Repugnantcans who were more than happy to go on television to criticize the ACA. This gave viewers the impression that the law must be bad, since the Democrats were not vigorously defending it. That reluctance was the biggest reason why the Democrats lost the House of Representatives in the 2010 election. Voters don't like wimpy poiticians. They want politicians who are vigorous and speak boldly but without arrogance. On another topic, we Demorats did not put forth a strong initiative to solve the problem of paying down the national debt. For example, a small financial transaction tax on every share of stock and every bond sold. Sure, it would have been a hard sell. Maybe it would not have passed Congress. But at least it would have been a PLAN. We Democrats did not really offer ANY plan to pay down the 18 trillion dollar national debt. It has increased EVERY year since Obama took office. Regardless of who was was responsible (both parties had a hand in it) it has been extremely foolish for us Democrats to NOT address this issue. And to address it BOLDLY.
The Republicans will relentlessly hammer away at this, from now until forever ...... until we DO offer a plan to address it boldly. A plan that will win the hearts and minds of voters. I don't see any of our elected Democrats offering a plan. As for he Repugs, we already KNOW what their pan is. Cuts, cuts, cuts, cuts ...........and then ....... more cuts.
