Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though. |
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. We're getting close to the membership cap, so we'll have to put you on a waiting list if you want to join. To get on the list, read this diary and visit the Guild web site. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome. |
More below the fold:
Joravic, on the guild forum, points us to this Hearthstone card creator.
Ever wonder what your main would look like as a Hearthstone card? Shove a screenshot or S.E.L.F.I.E into the generator and find out! Be sure to post your card on the forum thread above.
With that, let's go to the raid reports. Here's Pamena with the Team PM report and some extra:
Pamena reports on Team PM and other things:
Team PM is having some goofy fun, with a couple of Highmaul heroic bosses on farm and about to get into Blackrock Foundry tonight. We've had a couple of nights of facepulls, including a Selfie Pull, which happened while I was away from the computer so I'm not sure who tried it, but we were all dead when I got back to the game! Good times. This week, we tried heroic Brackenspore but the moss seems to be spawning unpredictably and we didn't feel like dealing with it, so we took some pulls on normal Imperator just to see where we are with that. We had to stop because Joravic's computer was slideshowing and he couldn't do much, but I think when we're back at full strength and everyone's computers are behaving, we can get him.
Sad News:
One of the reasons Team PM was not at full strength Tuesday is that our Baelzebabe was out and will be out for the next week - his mother died on Friday, quite unexpectedly, and he is back in the wilds of northern Canada someplace to deal with all that needs to be done. We are so sorry for your loss, Baelz - it is always hard to lose a parent, whatever the circumstances. We miss you dreadfully, but take whatever time you need to wrap things up, and we'll see you when you get back!
How WOW Has Enriched My Life
I have been thinking about this since talking to Baelz over the weekend about his mother passing away, and I continue to be amazed at the deep and rich connections this game and particularly this guild has given me a chance to make with wonderful people I would otherwise never have met. We celebrate each others' happy events, we console each other thru the hard times, we reach out and help each other in real life when it's needed. We mourn our own losses - the memorial we held for dear Flintpaw 18 months ago will always be one of my favorite memories of the game and the guild. The game has many negatives, as we all know - I don't really think I would have written the Ultimate Law Review Article if I hadn't started playing WOW 6 years ago, but maybe. On the other hand, the friendships I've made in this game and this guild far outweigh in importance anything I might have said in that hypothetical article, so I think it's worth it. I love you guys.

And here's Ninotchka with the Team Kaels report:
The flexorama had a good week this week too. I am particularly glad to tell the story of Thobby vs. Hans and Franz. This encounter has been notorious for causing motion sickness. The floor of the room starts and stops moving, abruptly, several times during the encounter. One of our raiders, Thobby, has a disease of the inner ear and is exceptionally susceptible to motion sickness. The last few times we tried this encounter, he had to sit out or look away from the monitor in order to get through it without severe physical distress. Well, he's been practicing, and we found a couple of ways to help mitigate the problem. One of the issues with the room is that there is very little visual contrast between the moving parts of the floor and the stationary parts of the floor. We have started putting up 4 raid markers at the start of the fight, and this helps not only Thobby - it makes it much easier to orient yourself when the computer screen goes crazy. So I am pleased to report that at the end of the fight last night, Thobby was on his feet and had gotten two gear upgrades.
Team Kaels had a few problems on Tuesday night - OK, the truth was that I had a few problems on Tuesday night, and I couldn't quite push the right buttons for anything. We did kill two bosses with much more difficulty than we ought to have, then went back and got our other two farm bosses on Wednesday and got a bit of work in on the Flamebender. We've got more work to do, but it's beginning to come together. I'm still trying to convince the team that they should try the 'ranged player stays still and lets the wolf chew on their face' strategy, but for some reason the ranged players don't want to do that. I just don't understand.

I don't have a Team Z report and I was not able to attend last Sunday, so hopefully Tvath can post something in comments.
That's all I have for this week. For the Horde!
