Demanding a 30 percent cut in pay after nearly two years of bargaining, home security giant ADT has locked out 19 workers who voted for IBEW representation in North Carolina.
It may seem ironic to some, because the IBEW represents 1000 ADT workers in other parts of the country.
But for those of us from the South or who have organized in the South, this is simply old fashioned southern plantation mentality–treat workers like dirt then get rid of them if they fight back.
This kind of management behavior has plagued workers and the labor movement since there has been an American labor movement.
