Some photos from a walk along Indian Rocks Beach, in St Pete FL:
The Daily Bucket is a regular series from the Backyard Science group. Here we talk about Mother Nature in all her glory, especially the parts that live nearby. So let us know (as close as you are comfortable) where you are and what's going on around you. What's the weather like? Seen any interesting plants, bugs or critters? Are there birds at your feeders? Deer, foxes or peahens in your yard? Seen any cool rocks or geological features? Post your observations and notes here. And photos. We like lots of photos. :)
Sand dunes. The Beach Sunflowers are already blooming.
The Gulf of Mexico rolls in.
A Cormorant takes a break from fishing.
The Laughing Gulls have their summer plumage.
Sandpipers in the surf.
A duck waddles along the sand.
Not sure what this is: it was quite a bit bigger than all the other gulls, and it looks like a juvie color pattern. Anyone know?
A piece of sponge that washed up on shore.
Some Nanday Parakeets hanging out on a nearby power line.
And now it's your turn: what's up in your neck of the woods?
