It seems that anti-gay lawmakers and others have more problems and issues than just being anti-gay. Some are caught in secretive gay relationships and others seem to have quite a bit of marital discord with their wives/husbands (including violence). Now, a Tennessee state Senator who ushered in that state's infamous "don't say gay" bill is in trouble with his ex-wife. She says that he hit her with his car door twice, almost running over her.
This year, Sen. Hensley filed a bill that would allow anti-gay discrimination at public colleges and universities, allowing student mental health practitioners to refuse to treat LGBT people based on their interpretation of their chosen religion.
From The New Civil Rights Movement:
Gina Hensley is the ex-wife of Tennessee Republican State Senator Joey Hensley. She says that last month, as she was moving into a new home, her ex-husband showed up accusing her of taking items from their home that were his.
"Joey put his vehicle in reverse and hit me with the door, knocking me (sideways)," she said, according to an order of protection. "I yelled out, 'Stop Joey, you are going to run over me.'"
The former Mrs. Hensley says she has witnesses to the event.
“I have three witnesses that saw the event,” she said. “Their statements are on file at the sheriff’s department.”
Sen. Hensley disagrees and says that he did not hit his ex-wife with the door of his vehicle,
Hensley, in response to his divorce, filed a bill that would have a judge distribute marital property. He says he cannot benefit from this bill as his divorce has been finalized.
