While blowing Bill O'Reilly's JFK Assassination story to high hell for Newsweek on Monday, Edward Jay Epstein opined:
O’Reilly may have been emulating the time-traveling investigator Jake Epping, who went back in time to solve the JFK assassination in Stephen King’s 2011 best-selling book 11/22/63.
He's not the first to suggest that BillO is like a fictional character, and he won't be the last...
DailyKos user rk2 wondered if he might be a real life model for Forrest Gump the Tom Hanks character who always seemed to stumble and bumble his way into history and good fortune.
Long time user ericy then wondered if O'Reilly might be turning into Leonard Zelig the Woody Allen character from the 1983 film Zelig.
Determined not to be outdone rk2 came back with the suggestion that Bill was Professor Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets who achieved fame and fortune through stealing the daring tales of others for his series of allegedly autobiographical books.
plan9pub then threw his hat into the ring with Commander McBragg from the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.
leftykook heard Jon Lovitz was hoping to play BillO as Tommy Flannagan the pathological liar of Saturday Night Live fame.
I can't help but think of O'Reilly when I see this clip of Fletch from the 1985 Chevy Chase comedy of the same name.
My personal favorite is the allegedly omniscient, somewhat super-villain, "Q" played by John de Lancie on Star Trek: The Next Generation...
He's devious and amoral and unreliable and irresponsible and... and definitely not to be trusted." -- Jean-Luc Picard, 2367
Think about it. The pompous, holier than thou attitude... The grandiosity of his carriage and movements. His ability to place himself at historical events and seemingly be in two places at once. His penchant for melodrama and disregard for all of humanity... Sound like anybody we know?
On a planet called Brax, he was known as "The God of Lies."
Is O'Reilly a space entity from the 24th Century toying with us puny humans for his own sick amusement? We report. You decide.
