Not passed by the Oklahoma Senate yet, and no word on what Governor Fallin will do if it reaches her desk, but just crazy.
Proposed by Rep. Todd Russ, the amendment to state law governing the duties of court clerks removes issuing marriage licenses. The bill would require marriage licenses issued by court clerks to have the signature of an ordained clergy. People who don't want a religious aspect to their marriage could file for an affidavit of common law marriage. So my being an atheist puts me out of luck I guess.
Obviously the bill is a response to the federal appeals court overturning Oklahoma's ban on same sex marriage last year.
So, I guess it is true. Same sex marriage will ruin traditional marriage because states will just pass laws saying if same sex couples getting married is okay they'd just rather no one got married at all!
