Netanyahu has broken with the main Israeli lobby in the U.S. By unequivocally stating his opposition to a two-state solution, Netanyahu as leader of the Israeli government will be in direct oppostion to the official position of AIPAC.
From AIPAC.org
Two states for two people.
AIPAC strongly supports a two-state solution and works tirelessly to bring peace to the region. A two-state solution – a Jewish state of Israel living in peace with a demilitarized Palestinian state – with an end to all claims is the clear path to resolving this generations-old conflict.
Words have consequences, and now that Bibi has moved to new far right ground, what will AIPAC do? Or will AIPAC quickly capitulate and demonstrate that they truly are a tool of Likud and Sheldon Adelson?
And will Americans finally realize that AIPAC is a political machine with essential disregard for Americans, American interests, and Israel's long-term security?
This will be a test for AIPAC.
And a test for those Americans who thought they were supporting a group that was anything more than the extension of right-wing politicians and their benefactors.
