Crash and burn baby. Crash and burn.
A message to whomever will read it, beginning with this, from an email I received:
"#Republicans in the House PASSED their disastrous budget.
It repeals the Affordable Care Act (#ACC). It turns #Medicare into a voucher system for future #seniors. All while leaving tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy completely in place."
I say good.
Let them have what they think they want. It will serve as the trigger that invigorates an already burgeoning and necessary opposition to what we've wrought here in this once potentially great--now long bought and sold--nation, a rich and elitist nation whose acquisitive eyes are set on whatever's left of the globe.
We may not want war with other countries, but we certainly want their resources, one of which is cheap labor. And war is one of the prices the jamokes in DC, both Left and Right, are willing to pay for those resources. All it takes is a call from what Letterman sometimes refers to as "the Corporate Offices."
These same unreputable, religiously and patriotically correct ideologues, are already waging #warfare against you and me. As in days gone by, our owners invite cheap labor in to degrade and displace more expensive wage-earners. Only this time cheap #labor does not arrive from the antebellum South or from our own urban #immigrant ghettos. No, this time our corporate owners move their operations out of our own towns and cities to the shores of other less developed nations where poor people still subsist under forced labor and "Coolie" wages so that you and I can neither expect nor demand living wages.
All the while these movers and shakers raise prices and interest rates even as they cry, "$15 an hour for a job at McDonald's??!" and point their dually-prejudicial fingers at the racial composition of cities they, long ago, pulled their businesses out of, cities such as #Camden and #Detroit, claiming--just as they also do about #workers and #unions--"you see, 'those people' there, look how angry, how uneducated, how dangerous they are. Those people are the problem. Look! Look!"
And despite earning a university #education which they tell us we need in order to earn a living in today's economy (even as they offer us #StudentLoans on which they recently doubled interest rates) decent #jobs grow more and more scarce.
I say "pass the #RepublicanBudget," and let the people prepare to perform their constitutional duty. Read between the lines, if you will.
The next "2008" will be impossible to dig out of. If we do not act now, then when the next 2008 occurs, the magnitude of the disaster will be truly and globally entrenched. Do you think the recent and ongoing 2008 meltdown--with its domino effect on lost careers and home #foreclosures even as the #OnePercent continues to grow indescribably wealthy--was difficult to dig out from? Allow me to repeat, the next 2008 will be impossible to dig out of.
Now. Today. Do not wait until tomorrow to act. Get up, do something, engage. Read something you find a little uncomfortable at least, a blog on #DailyKos, an article appearing in #Truthdig or #Alternet, or take a look at #DemocracyNow and ask yourself if there is anything worthwhile and true there. Talk about what you read with friends. When you do, you may in the process find that you are weeding our false friends who are not so open-minded after all, from true friends who will continue to love you despite the differences of opinion that you raise. Do it now, and not after a 2008-like disaster strikes us at the hands of political despots and wealthy oligarchs that we failed to confront and reject.
