. . . get yourselves one of these:

I just returned from casting my vote for Jesus "Chuy" Garcia. This was the easiest voting experience I ever had. Interestingly, the machine that was used was made by Sequoia. Despite the bad rap they have earned and received, this system actually allowed me to hard print verification of my vote for Chuy. Everyone in this community MUST cast a vote for real change in Chicago. And, please tell everyone you know to vote as well.
I live on the northwest side of the city, an area that is also within the 5th Congressional District. This means that not only did we have Blagojevich as our congressman before his 'ascent' to governor, we also had Rahm as congressman. Conseqently, there were way more "I'm with Rahm" posters outside the library where I voted than there were"Chuy" posters.

Every time I see one of these posters, I think about what it really means when people say they are with Rahm. They are saying that they don't have a problem with Rahm attempting to sell the closing of 50 inner city public schools as responsible governance. They are saying that they don't have a problem with Rahm using TIF (Tax Increment Financing) money to promote the interests of his big business buddies and their developments, rather than purposes that might serve a larger percentage of the population. They are saying that they don't have a problem with the horrendous crime rate in our city, because they believe that he is doing the best that he can (this didn't inspire confidence). They are saying that they are pleased that our new Governor, Bruce Rauner's endorsement of Rahm doesn't bother them. . .they probably think 'So what, they worked together, they can get things done'. As a Governor, Rauner is going to make our northern neighbor, Scott Walker, seem reasonable. If Rahm and Rauner work together, we as a state and a city with a robust progressive population are going to get screwed.
Chuy has a real chance to win this election. The polls I have seen have not been promising. However, Rahm is widely seen as good for business, bad for Chicago. As usual, we have an uphill battle convincing our side to vote. The City Hall machine is going to show up to say they are 'with Rahm'. To save our city, we have to show up for this special election to say 'No more Rahm, we are with Chuy'.
