Well, this week is another of the endless fund raising campaigns for local public radio here in Boston. I'm a regular, if not avid, listener. I'm also a member and occasional additional contributor. This weeks drive has a "challenge" from a local company that will contribute $600,000 to WBUR if their pledge drive gets $1.2M by the end of today, Thursday April 2, 2015.
As of this mornings drive to work the drive needed an additional $233,000 to meet the goal and get the additional monies. Many people here and around the country rely on public radio for solid and unbiased news and information. Which is why they've been under attack for so many years by the Koch brothers and their ilk. The only way to avoid another episode of rightist money determining broadcasting content is to pony up the money. Whether you live in Boston or not, please consider giving to the WBUR pledge driveand help them leverage our contributions with a very substantial matching gift.
I'm sure there's a good chance I'm breaking some kind of rule here or if there's a connected site where this would be better placed. But this is the path I know and time if short. Feel free to let me know what, if any, the right choice would have been, please keep it free of condescension. Again, the link is wbur.org
