While the actual incident happened prior to Rahm becoming mayor, everything after that(the cover up) was on his watch. The reaction to this video, if as described, would have been devastating. Surprisingly, unless I missed it, there was only 1 mention of this incident on this site.
Laquan McDonald(17) was shot 16 times walking away from the police with a lane of traffic in between...and then it was all covered up(including the dashcam video) and the coverup continues to this day....
You can google all the details but now the Feds have launched an investigation, there is growing clamor for releasing the dashcam video, which Laquan's attorney has but cannot release under the $5 million settlement, and this clearly has the hallmarks of turning into a major scandal and rightfully so.
Here is the one mention I found ..

Chicago police have told their version of how 17-year-old black teen Laquan McDonald died. The autopsy tells a different story. Slate: Sixteen Shots.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In its broad outlines, this is a familiar Chicago story: A black American is shot by a Chicago police officer. A police source says the shooting was justified. IPRA announces it is investigating. Then silence. After a year or two, IPRA issues a report confirming that the shooting was indeed justified.
The video shows the cop pumping 16 bullets into this kid(who is brandishing a knife but is walking away and is surrounded by cops). They are now so scared of the impact that this will have on the community. Really? I'm sure the "community" that is most impacted has seen much worse and will not be surprised. They are more impacted by the actual incident...not some video. They have to have the "talk" with their kids everyday about how to protect themselves from the police. It's the other "community" who keeps getting shocked by the recent(in their mind) spate of cops executing innocent people from the other community. They are unable to comprehend that this actually goes on everyday in "their" country. Can you imagine what these videos are doing to the image of "their" country around the world. Shocking...just shocking!
If there are people who know how to generate some action from this site to get this video released, I welcome your initiative on this one(feel free to take over this post). For too long the people in Chicago and suburbs have not had to face this reality and it's time we did so. Wish Chuy had been able to push this story before the election.
If you can suggest other tags I add, please let me know or add them if you can. I've been inactive for a while :-(.
