Here is the link to the diary I'm referring to:
http://www.dailykos.com/...
More below the divider doodle.
Here is the last part of that diary:
So,
I never did actually answer the question,
which of those things made me cry?
I'm not sure.
But maybe Hillary is saying some very good things,
and maybe I heard them.
And maybe that gave me
a glimmer of hope.
Thanks for reading.
Here is a comment in support of me and my diary and Hillary:
me too (28+ / 0-)
and I was surprised at it. it came out of the blue. I was examining the video with a skeptical eye, but an open mind, and thinking early on how advertisey it was. but then I also remember thinking, but that works for a lot of things. and there are ads out there that have made me cry. (damn you, Clydesdales.) and then, boom, I was tearing up. something about the everydayness, yes, and the music. and the good cheer of most of the folks, which obviously was just another ad tactic, but felt genuine. I think it has something to do with my perception that these people were real, but were "acting" their real lives for us, for her, because they honestly believe in her. or are at least happy to be doing this, and devoted to electing her to represent us all.

That comment sums up how I felt about the video, as well.
Here is a comment that seems to be an effort
to pick a fight with me and those who felt like me:
I cried too (11+ / 0-)
But was cutting an onion.
Just a very well produced commercial intended to draw an emotional response. Next ad will have starving children and homeless elderly people staring into the camera lens with a somber stoic look.
Call me cynical but I'm sick of all the manipulative shit that goes on in politics.
Give me substance. Give me facts. Give me an agenda but enough with the mindless emotional bullshit.
The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government. - Thomas Jefferson

That comment seems overly cynical,
but I feel it's a reasonable comment.
I truly don't feel the commentor was attacking me,
but rather,
simply stating a fact:
(paraphrasing):
"I hate emotional bullshit."
"I want specific policy proposals."
If ctexrep feels that way,
then that comment is a simple statement of fact:
ctexrep feels this way.
Period.
I don't feel personally attacked,
I don't feel hurt,
when a commentor writes such things.
However,
as I was reading the comment thread,
I realized I should have written this:
Hard line conservatives
will not vote for Hillary,
no matter what.
Most moderate and liberal Democrats
will vote for her,
as long as her ads and speeches are
within reasonable boundaries.
The intended audience is
the swing voters
in the swing states.
So,
the entire pie fight
was completely pointless.
Do we all agree,
she needs to persuade
the swing voters
in the swing states?
Do we all agree she will be our nominee, our candidate?
Do we all agree that any Republican in the White house
will do more harm than good?
Then the pie fight was truly pointless.
If you're blogging at Daily Kos,
and you hate Hillary's video,
that fact is completely irrelevant to the upcoming elections.
The pie fight did not bother me,
but I'm laughing at the fact,
that so many folks,
on both sides of the pie fight,
failed to realize those two things:
1. Our love or hatred of the video is irrelevant to the elections.
2. I do not agree with anyone on either side who said the other side was
so very mean and hateful that it made the comment thread pure hell.
I truly feel,
it simply wasn't all that bad.
Lighten up!
I will end this diary
with the comments
praising me,
making me feel great!:

bigjac, the only thing wrong with you (37+ / 0-)
is that you're a real human being. Thanks for sharing your heartfelt feelings & thoughts about the HRC opening video. I dunno if I got teary when I watched it, but my heart sure swelled & fluttered a few times. The naysayers are doing what naysayers do, but the rest of us I think will be inspired to join in and GOTV - hopefully for all the downticket race as well.

You know, jan brought up an important point,
a point made by kos months ago,
if I recall correctly.
The point is,
Hillary will be the next President;
deal with that,
and work down ticket.
In fact,
I wrote a comment in my thread,
that should have been in the diary.
Here's part of that comment:
White and non-white couple,
business owners who speak no English,
a gay couple,
a lesbian couple,
a soon-to-retire widow,
a black family,
expecting a new baby boy,
etc.
Hillary is claiming
she truly supports such folks.
It may be empty promises.
In fact,
it's almost certain to be empty promises,
because,
no matter how much she may truly want
to do great things for all of us,
the Congress actually has the power to do that,
not the President.
As with the ACA,
the Presidents can push hard,
but Congress must act,
to help make America better.
So,
we need to give Hillary a Congress
with more and better Democrats.
More comments that made me feel good:
Thank you for winkling out the difference (14+ / 0-)
between everyday and middle class. That is a poet's ear.
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? . . . and respect the dignity of every human being.

Isn't it though? I'm usually attuned (11+ / 0-)
to linguistic nuance, but that escaped my attention until it was pointed out here.
I liked the video well enough, thought it was well done but wasn't especially moved by it. This diary, however, is quite moving and puts the video in a light I'd missed.

See that?
Two commentors noticed Hillary said,
"everyday Americans"
not
"the middle class"
only after I pointed it out.
Well,
these diaries of mine
may or may not make a noticeable difference in the world,
but I'm having a good time.
I hope I did a tiny bit,
to help elect
more and better Democrats.
Thanks for reading.
