I desperately need help here in North Carolina. As you know I am caregiver to a seriously disabled brother. He is in the hospital after a serious operation. We don't know if we are going to be able to save his leg or not.
I worked out with the apartment manager a problem with his vehicle. Now I have a threatening letter from the owner saying register or move the vehicle from their premises in one week. They know I'm trying to get the title from California and can do nothing until I get it. I complied with all they asked of me.
The people in the office refuse to give me the owner's number or to have the owner call me. I can't afford to have the car towed and stored. I can't register it until California sends the title. I have a call into Legal Aid but I'm at my wits end. The car needs a new battery so won't start and the registration from California is expired.
Does anyone in the Winston Salem area have a place I can store the car? Does anyone have someone here who can help me with legal advice? Reid should be covered by the American with Disabilities Act. Right now I am so stressed I can't stop crying. Someone please help. I spent the last year trying to keep Reid from dying and these people don't care.
4:31 PM PT: Just a couple of notes. We are strapped financially at the moment. We still owe $1,000.00 at the minimum for his surgery. There will be more bills coming in.
The car does not face the street. It is parked where it doesn't block or inconvenience anyone. We also have a problem that we can't get the key out of the ignition. AAA couldn't even get it out.
I have a help request into Legal Aid. Thanks for the suggestions. I have a few numbers to call in the morning and will call the Mayor's office.
Thanks for your help.
9:18 PM PT: What I was told was that the owner saw the car and the owner decided to be an asshole. I found the owner on the Internet and sent them a voicemail. This has nothing to do with the car being against regulations in Winston Salem and the owner is just being an asshole even though I did exactly what they asked of me.
WE JUST GOT AN EVICTION NOTICE. PLEASE HELP.
