I received an email asking me to start a diary to help kill Fast Track and stop the TPP. It won't do anything. I've already called and written to both of my senators and my house rep.
In fact I don't think that will do anything either. Both houses of Congress are generally beholden to corporate interests, and few individuals among them resist. We need to fight in the only way that will matter.
We need to destroy major corporations through non-participation. Select fuel companies, retail establishments, manufacturers, distributors of goods. This means not shopping at their establishments, it means laborers strike from their establishments, it means we don't support their suppliers. We pick one, destroy it, pick another, destroy it, until they get the message about who really rules this country when our backs are to the wall. When rich assholes see their profits disappearing, they'll back off, and they'll tell their slaves in Congress to do what we ask.
This is scorched earth, figuratively speaking. I don't care if this is cutting off my nose in spite of my face. As our economic situation continues to worsen, as civil liberties are curtailed, what good is a face anyway? We can continue to beg for scraps from corporate table or we can grow our own food.
Secondly, we need a new slate of political candidates with a common platform to knock off the corporate democrats at the primary elections and the corporate republicans (I personally respect those few Republicans opposed to corporatism even if they disagree about things like labor or environmental law) Anyone with halfway decent public speaking skills (which sadly, I don't have). It must be a mass movement. Not just one here and one there. It must be at the national level and the State level. Every major office up for re-election must be challenged.
It must be a combined economic and electoral challenge. And we must be willing to financially support our brothers and sisters who get displaced as these corporate entities go bankrupt.
I am not a leader. I have no public speaking skills. I have no influence, nor would you want someone like me ruining a perfectly good movement. But the truth is there, just in case, one of you out there has the power to get things rolling.
