The level of ignorance of people who put down the Democrats is simply amazing. But consider the Republicans:
Republicans say they want to cut spending. What they really mean is they want to cut spending on Medicare, Social Security, FEMA - as in disaster relief from Sandy, Katrina and the rest - welfare, unemployment, and other programs, which benefit those who are not in the upper 1% of wealth in this country.
But The GOP will all say, as a group, "No, don't stop those spending programs."
Individually, each occupant of the 2016 Republican Presidential Clown Car has a special plan, which will do away with all of these programs.
While we’re not paying attention, the Republicans are working behind the scenes to remove our rights and – dare I say – entitlements, from all Americans, except the uber-rich!
Remember, the definition of entitlement: “a type of financial help provided by the government for members of a particular group.” Simply put, if you work most of your adult life, and your employer has taken out taxes from each paycheck for things like Social Security and other governmental programs, you are then entitled to claim unemployment benefits and Social Security upon your retirement. “Entitlements” is not a dirty word, no matter how much the Republicans would like you to think it is.
What will happen if you ask the Republicans whether they want to stop spending for defense and/or the military or Veteran's programs?
Again, they all say no.
However, in this case, they do want to reduce Veterans’ Benefits, but they want to keep spending on defense programs. After all, how will their supporters make the billions of dollars they have begun to contribute to the Republican Party and their special breed of candidates, if they no longer manufacture weapons we will never need and the ammunition for those weapons?
Okay, so do they want to stop spending on healthcare? Once more, they say “no.” But check the Internet to see how many times the GOP/TP has tried to overturn the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as ObamaCare. And they're gearing up to try tod overturn it once again.
Which leaves the Republicans and Tea Party people with absolutely no idea of how to reduce spending, since they said NO to all the above.
There is no more middle class, and the GOP/TP wants the rich to pay less taxes. I myself would love to be able to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes; it would mean that I’m earning lots more each year! If we cannot ask the super-rich to pay a little more for the privilege of having so many protections for their businesses, somebody has to tell us where else we can get more revenue.
So when the Republicans and Tea Party people, lurking online, call the DEMs "Spendocrats," the only conclusion you can make is that these are simply online bullies, who try to confuse people into thinking the Democrats are the ones to blame, when the Republicans have blocked so many consecutive attempts to pass a realistic budget.
After all, one definition of insanity is to keep trying the same thing, and getting the same results. Remember also that George Bush The First put our country into a deep (GOP) deficit; Bill Clinton left our country with the largest (DEM) surplus in history. Then George The Second came along and with his gang of thieves put the country into a deep (GOP) depression. Barack Obama (DEM) came along, saved the auto industry, and turned around the economy once again.
He did all this without much support from the Republican House and weak Senate.
Now here's the kicker: To start, the night of Obama's first inauguration in 2009, a small group of Republicans in Congress gathered to swear to do all they could to block anything Obama wanted to accomplish. Not enough to satisfy the die-hard ultra-right-wing-nuts, in 2010
the Republicans gathered in a so-called secret meeting, to agree to try to shut down the United States Government. Not for any specific reason, but just to see if they could do it. It took a couple of years for them to become organized, but then they struck with first,
the Sequester, then the full-blown Government Shutdown!
Moreover,
this Republican shut-down of the United States Government came with a multi-billion dollar cost, with loss of pay for many government workers except, of course, for the Members of Congress. More recently, they threatened to do it again.
The Republicans recently invited the Prime Minister of Israel to speak before the Congress; at best, this is a violation of protocol and at worst, they are trying to end-run the President on making foreign policy.
Those same Republicans also sent a letter to Iran, with whom our Secretary of State is negotiating to dial down the enmity between the two nations, and to remove the Iranian Nuclear Threat, if indeed there is one. However, those Republicans – 47 of their Senators – wrote a letter to the Iranian government, which told them that the next president, who they hope will be Republican, would make any such agreement with Iran null and void. So why would the Iranian Government go through the motions of making a peaceful treaty with the United States if they are faced with the possibility of that treaty being overturned?
Again, at best this is a violation of protocol; at worst, this is an act of treason. However, those wonderful warm and fuzzy Republicans and Tea Party members have tried to make it look as if it is nothing at all. With another honk from the Republican Presidential Candidates' Clown Car.
One final example of the Right Wing's beneficence: the Governor of Florida, while campaigning for reelection, told the citizens of Florida that he was all in favor of the Federal Government’s Medicaid Expansion for his state. This Expansion would qualify 800,000 people in Florida for Health Care coverage at no cost to them. However once Lex Luthor ... er, uh ... Governor Scott was reelected, he reversed his decision and refused to allow the Feds to bankroll the Medicaid Expansion. To make this GOP Clown even more humorous, he is now threatening to sue President Obama or the Federal Government for refusing to fund the Medicaid Expansion; the very same Medicaid Expansion he personally turned down. The problem is that the people who get hurt in this process are those nearly one million residents of Florida who don’t have enough money to pay for their own health care.
Such is the quality of the members of the Republican Party and Tea Party who will run for President in 2016. If we start now, we can ensure that these vile misogynist racist bigots will not have a chance to win the White House, or any other major election in Our Nation.
We all must work together! It is well past time for We, The People of The United States of America to stand up for our rights, to stand up for Ethical Behavior, Honor and Honesty from our duly elected representatives, to help our nation move forward.
What we have learned is that the level of ignorance of those who vote for Republican or the Tea Party candidates is incredible. They accept without question all the lies fed to them and, with intellectual blinders on, plow on ahead thinking that the Democrats are going to steal from them. While they are watching to see if the DEMs are going to actually ruin their lives, the Republicans, like excellent pickpockets, slip in and steal away their rights, one-by-one.
Vote as if your lives depend upon it, because they do! I'll take my soapbox and leave now.
One last item - notice to online bullies: Call me names, but that won't change a thing. You people are the ones who are wrong for America.
