In an ever increasing onslaught of tragedy, climate disasters, killings, wars, and corruption, both inside and outside the Beltway, I ask myself if there is an end in sight or we will continue to implode as a nation? There are grassroots movements underway whose missions are exciting to see but seem fragmented and often overlooked. Is there a way to coalesce these groups while avoiding the inevitable corruption of power that many large groups struggle with? Who will continue to support the noble causes while trying to avoid the less benevolent charities we have all grown to know and support over the years such as United Way, Goodwill Industries, Red Cross and many others who use little of their donations to actually help the recipients of said donations.
Will the infrastructure continue to crumble around us and will anyone ever build a bullet train to rival or even surpass those in other supposedly less developed countries in this stagnating country that once thrived.
Do we continue to ignore the staggering loss of our oceans ecosystem not to mention the nearly depleted rainforests in the hope that one of these grassroots movements makes a difference? We have lost a great deal of the oceans coral reefs and not enough people realize how this will affect us all. It is essential for life. It is non-negotiable. If we continue along the same path our actions will destroy the planet long before we have figured out how to sustain populations on another planet and who is to say we won't destroy another planet? Maybe we already have. Maybe earth was not the first habitable planet and we were shuttled here because we made a mess of the last planet we took over.
Our entire way of thinking needs to change and our current governments need total re-hauling if we are to punch our way through to an extended existence on this planet.
Do we need a revolution to sustain our earth? I believe we do. It has become too easy to sit in our respective chairs and sign petitions, send out emails, tweet, and mock those who don't agree. The kiling of black youths, while rallying the black community, barely penetrate the radars of the white communities as they realize it isn't about them. It is about us all and all of us need to come to terms with the fact that part of the game plan is to divide and conquer us. Governments like it when we fight amongst ourselves as it becomes a huge distraction. They can push through legislation that erodes what little voice we still have.
It is amazing to me what so many are willing to accept as the norm nowadays. Is is ok with you that we have 4,000,000 children on foot stamps and that our unemployment rate is far higher than what is reported. That our infant mortality rate is one of the highest in the world. That are education system is a failure and all we can produce are athletes who have no futures and soldiers who are maimed and forgotten when they return from battle.
Why not try boycotting a sporting event and see what power you really have then take it a step further and boycott fracking, pollution, big oil, or any number of causes that really do affect our future.
If we choose to sit back much longer, we will have no choices left because we have chosen to ignore the very people who have decided for us what is in their best interest and their best interest is rarely for the good of the whole.
