A few days ago, we needed tech support from TWC.
For some reason, MSNBC had been dark for over a week. And Aljazeera
was scrambled.
I'd wondered if it was for the same reason there are always audio drop-outs
in left-wing political shows, like Jon Stewart, and especially Bill Maher.
(We never see drop-outs on the right wing stations, like CNN.)
I assumed MSNBC would eventually return.
It eventually did.
But only after we'd talked to a hustling Verizon salesman, who stormed
out because we refused to sign a contract without getting the terms of
service in writing.
The scariest thing about the dude is that he seemed to love the exact same
shows that we watch, without our telling him that we watch them.
The clown constantly pops up in our yard unannounced, which terrifies
me now that he feels that we have double crossed him.
What bothers me most about TWC is the salary of the CEO.
Our rates would go down, and our service would go up if his $40,000,000
paycheck was deflated to double what the average TWC customer makes.
And although last time I checked, the poor Verizen CEO makes a mere
$15,000,000 a year, it is around 12 million over what any earth dweller should
be making, IMHO.
When I finally got TWC tech support, the only thing we got out of it was a
pitch to upgrade our services. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but
could that be the reason that two channels we watch regularly, went out?
To get us to the phone for a sales pitch?
So are there options, besides TWC or Verizon?
We don't want to lose the great John Oliver, the great Jon Stewart (till August),
or the great Bill Maher. And we'd also like to catch whatever Sam Bee and
Jason Jones are up to.
But without supporting Vampires.
Satellite is out, because we're not into radiation.
But if there are any other options, we would love to hear them.
I apologize that this is more of a question than a diary. Feel free to set me
straight.
