As Kennedy said, and Martin quoted in his "Beyond Vietnam" speech:
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
When have we waited long enough for justice? When are those brutally abused justifiably right in saying "Enough. We will take this no longer?"
Next week? Tomorrow? Next year?
I say it has already gone on far too long, over 400 years too long. The Crypts, Bloods, and other Black "Hoodlums" are way past due in recompense for their less violent relatives. It is enough already.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
Understand this. Do not blame the victims. Those victims have crossed, understandably
crossed, the boundaries of "polite" society; and rightfully so. Do not dare to blame them. Those of you who would say they are 'out of line,' please tell me how long they should wait, how many murders of their kin should they accept, how much should they be willing, able even, to accept before succumbing and reacting to the slings and arrows of outrageous injustice?
Since we have refused to hear them, since we have made peaceful (and just) revolution impossible, we Americans need to accept the inevitable consequences of our inaction.
Do not blame those who clamored for justice when we could not hear. The fault is ours.
We can only blame ourselves.
