To The Esteemed Representative of the Great State of Delaware, Senator Hansen,
On behalf of my colleagues and myself, allow me to congratulate you on your success of new office, in which we recognize as well a vital success for the Republic, and for Liberty herself. Even now, we cherish every victory, for recent fortune suffering, is no small measure. Hope, in dire need of at present, smiles upon us. We wish you, do pray, the fortitude to persevere against the present dark clouds risen, and that troubles us to the marrow. May the demands accordant duly fulfilled reap gratitude by prudent judgment. We respectfully encourage you to consult us as often either need or fellowship’s comfort suggests, that we may fulfill our intent in the provision of wise and just governance for the good citizens of Delaware.
Henceforth Your Colleagues,
Thomas Jefferson, et. al.

Mr. Franklin has insisted I remind you, in parts ‘humor’ and well-meaning prudence, to keep about you in the varied places you frequent, and on person, separate, his bifocals assumed known to you (or now forthwith) for ‘they make the sheaves politic, commerce and correspondence easier to both produce and digest, eyes delayed sleep before the mind and body ready’. Or as he want colorfully proclaims ‘They Come in Handy’ (The approbation of which he welcomes)
