Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Chris Murphy’s (D. CT) re-election campaign:
Last week, President Trump took his deliberate sabotage of our health care system to the next level.
On Thursday, he signed an executive order that opens the door for insurers to go back to the days of not covering necessities like prescription drugs or hospital visits, and allowing insurance companies to drop you if your care gets too expensive. And yesterday, he announced that he would cut off funding used to reduce costs of coverage for low-income families. This comes after he’s already cut the enrollment period in half, and slashed funding that goes to help families sign up for coverage.
Let’s call this what it is—the president is intentionally hurting every American because he’s having a temper tantrum over Republicans' unwillingness to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Congress has the power to stop this. Add your name to send a message that Congress should pass legislation preventing the president from pulling health care funding from families who need it.
Donald Trump’s behavior isn’t a surprise to anyone in Congress. We’ve seen how he’s worked to destabilize the health care system since taking office. On the very first day, he signed an executive order undermining the law.
That’s why many of us have been racing to come up with a bipartisan health care bill to prevent this exact sort of blatant sabotage.
Well, the sabotage is here in full force. Republicans can either work with us to fix the health care system, or stand aside when the president breaks it beyond recognition.
Add your name to tell Congress - we want legislation to stop the sabotage.
If Republicans reject compromises to fix this, they will own every piece of what’s left of the American health care system when Donald Trump is through with it.
I hope you’ll join me in urging my colleagues to make the right choice.
Every best wish,
Chris Murphy
U.S. Senator, Connecticut
