There was something so very familiar about Donny the Trump’s comments on Roy Moore today:
President Trump on Tuesday appeared to offer support to Republican candidate Roy Moore in Alabama's U.S. Senate race, saying the former state judge “totally denies” allegations of sexual misconduct against underage girls years ago.
“He denies it,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “He says it didn't happen, and you have to listen to him, also.”
Hmmm …. where have we heard something like that before?
"He said he didn't meddle," Trump said aboard Air Force One when asked whether he had discussed Russia's interference in the 2016 election with Putin. "He said he didn't meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times."
"He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election, he did not do what they are saying he did," Trump added.
(Trump did later mitigate those statements on Putin, saying that “I’m with our agencies” on the question of Russian meddling. A little better, but still pathetic.)
What a world. Mountains of evidence pointing to Russian corruption of our election dialogue, and to Moore’s past as a pervy creep. But never mind that, right? It’s not true, because they told him so, and he prefers those scenarios to the reality the rest of us are stuck with. Oh, and Mexico’s paying for the wall. And trickle-down tax plans are good for the middle class. And the whole world is singing praises for Trump, hailing him, awestruck in the job he is doing. I guess that’s how his brain “works,” and whatever the shortcomings of his mental process, it sure seems to be working for him.
Here’s hoping reality stages a comeback, and soon.
