Selling Ivanka’s clothing line wasn’t enough. Now the moral abyss known as Kellyanne Conway has apparently violated the Hatch Act again by endorsing Roy Moore for Senate in her official White House capacity:
Walter Shaub [former director of the Office of Government Ethics] tweeted Wednesday that he has filed a complaint with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, which he said investigates Hatch Act violations. Under the Hatch Act, federal government employees may not use their official title "while engaged in political activity."
Shaub is responding to Kellyanne’s interview on Fox News’ “Fox & Fiends” when she attacked Roy Moore’s opponent, Doug Jones.
Richard Painter, chief White House ethics lawyer for George W. Bush, agrees:
This is an official interview. She has violated the Hatch Act by using her position to take sides in a partisan election. That is a firing offense. And for her this is strike two.
Not that this will matter, but just another factoid in the maelstrom that is the Trump (mis)adminstration.
