With the now well-worn Ben Shapiro, Richard Spencer, and Milo Yiannopoulos provocations on college campuses, the latest one by Lucian Wintrich was so uneventful, he had to generate his own violence, by attacking a woman from behind and putting her in a chokehold. She had taken his notes from the podium, and he rushed after her, grabbing her as police tried to restrain him.
Even on local Fox TV news, the spin adheres to the network’s ideological framing:
A conservative commentator was arrested at the University of Connecticut on Tuesday evening after a fight broke out during his speech titled It's OK to Be White.
No fight broke out, there was no mob or riot, and no crowd grabbed Wintrich, and one window outside got broken. There were no torches or people in masks.
But social media now features all the usual exaggerated threats and accusations.
The video version (TRIGGER WARNING) shows Wintrich putting a chokehold on the woman after she swipes his notes from the podium. A scuffle ensues as the cops then arrest him. He’s been charged and released on bail.
You can imagine the RWNJ spin on this …
