A powerful earthquake, tentatively fixed at a magnitude of 7.1, has hit near Mexico City. The epicenter appears to be southeast of the capital near Raboso.
Early reports indicate that there is widespread damage and fires burning in Mexico City.
This quake follows a massive 8.1 magnitude quake that occurred off the coast of Mexico less than two weeks ago. Mexico City was hit by a 8.0 earthquake on this same date in 1985. That earthquake resulted in over 10,000 deaths.
