Where's President Trump’s outrage at Russia after his Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced indictments against 13 Russian nationals and 3 Russian entities for interfering in the 2016 presidential election.
Instead of defending our country against the Russian government and Russian President Vladimir Putin, he is spending his time defending himself by directing blame to others. “It’s Obama’s fault” is a favorite defense.
These indictment form the legal framework for the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian investigation. I would expect further indictments of U.S. citizens in the Trump presidential campaign, Trump family members, and possibly Trump himself. They must be feeling the extra heat.
At the very least, Trump should immediately impose the new sanctions imposed by Congress in July 2017. Trump reluctantly signed the bipartisan sanction legislation, but refused to implement them.
Perhaps Trump still believes Putin when he told him last year that Russia did not interfere with the 2016 presidential election, the substantial contrary evidence notwithstanding, or perhaps Trump still has a soft spot for the Russian president, or he and his family have substantial financial ties to Russian oligarchs, or all of the preceding.
